University of Chile, Juan Gómez Millas Campus, Santiago, Chile

Santiago, the capital of Chile, is the political, cultural, and economic center of the country, located between the Andes Mountains and the Chilean Coastal Range. The city contains numerous museums, historical neighborhoods, cultural institutions, and heritage sites connected to the long archaeological and historical traditions of the Andes and South America.

CAA2027 will be hosted at the Juan Gómez Millas Campus of the University of Chile, home to the Department of Anthropology and one of the country’s principal academic environments for archaeology, anthropology, geography, and interdisciplinary research. Founded in 1842, the University of Chile is the oldest public university in the country and has a long-standing tradition in research, higher education, and international academic collaboration.

The Department of Anthropology has established expertise in Andean archaeology, landscape studies, heritage research, and digital and computational approaches to archaeology, making it an appropriate venue for discussions on computational archaeology and emerging digital methodologies in Latin America and beyond.

The campus offers lecture halls, conference rooms, open gathering spaces, and technical facilities suitable for large-scale international academic events. It is connected to Santiago’s public transportation system, including metro and bus services. Santiago International Airport (Arturo Merino Benítez Airport) provides direct connections to major cities across the Americas and Europe.

As one of the main urban centers in South America, Santiago offers a wide range of accommodation, restaurants, museums, and cultural activities for conference participants.

Please note that CAA2027 will be a fully in-person event.
